Worldle
Worldle — yes, with an extra L — shows the outline of a country or territory and gives you six guesses to name it. Each wrong answer tells you how far away your guess is, which direction the answer lies in, and a percentage for how close you came. A French developer, Antoine Teuf, launched it in early 2022 as a geography twist on Wordle, and it has since added optional bonus questions after the main round, such as naming the flag or the capital. Children who know the shape of the UK and a few big countries can join in from about nine, and the arrow turns every round into a small map lesson. The weak spot is the small places: islands and microstates appear as tiny blobs, and a round can feel like guessing from a smudge.

Follow the Arrow, Not the Shape
A round takes two to five minutes. If the outline means nothing to you, guess a large, central country such as Germany or Kazakhstan first, then follow the arrow and the distance rather than trying to recognise the shape. Keep an atlas or a globe nearby; looking the answer up together afterwards is half the fun. Once the main puzzle feels easy, try the bonus questions too.
