skribbl.io
skribbl.io is online Pictionary for a group. On each turn one player picks a word from a short list and draws it, while everyone else types guesses into the chat; the quicker the guess, the more points, and the artist scores when others get it. Turns rotate until everyone has drawn, over as many rounds as the room is set for. It has been running for the better part of a decade, needs no account, and takes its whole structure from the board game, adding letter hints that appear as the clock runs down. A private room holds up to twenty players and can use your own word list, which makes it ideal for a family call across several households; there it suits players from about eight who can type a quick guess. Public rooms are another matter: children meet strangers in an open chat, with only mute, report and vote-kick buttons for protection.

Make a Private Room
A three-round game with six players takes about twenty minutes. Choose Create Private Room, set the draw time to eighty or ninety seconds for younger artists, and paste the invite link into your family chat. Add custom words everyone knows — pets’ names, holiday places, Grandad’s shed — and tick the option to use only those, for a game that feels like yours. With children under ten, keep the hints switched on; the revealed letters turn guessing into a spelling game.
