Games for the Breakfast Table

Sunny clay-style world with a pinned globe, a paintbrush trailing a rainbow, a path of blank tiles, balloons and a kite

Caspriveta writes friendly guides to free browser games a family can share: a daily word puzzle over breakfast, a map game that starts an argument about borders, a drawing game that ends in giggles. Each guide explains the rules in plain words, suggests which ages it suits, and flags anything a parent should know, from open chat to adverts. We link to every game’s official site and never host or embed them.

Everything we have covered so far is in the full list of games.

Made for Sharing

Ages on Every Page

Each guide suggests a starting age, based on reading level and how much the game expects you to know.

Parent Notes

Chat with strangers, adverts and sign-ups are flagged plainly, so you can set things up before handing over the tablet.

No Paid Picks

Nobody pays to appear here. Links go to each game’s official site, and we earn nothing from them.

Words, Maps and Doodles

Three shelves, one for each kind of play; the tabs on the games page filter by shelf.

  • Daily Words

One puzzle a day, solved in a few minutes and compared over breakfast.

  • Geography

Guess the country from its shape or its neighbours, and learn the map by accident.

  • Drawing

Doodle, guess and laugh; nobody needs to be good at art.

How We Test With Families

Every game is played for a fortnight by our two editors and by volunteer households around Bristol, with players from eight to well past seventy. We note the first question each player asks, how long a round lasts, whether the game runs on an old tablet, and what a parent would want to know first: chat, adverts, accounts and anything that costs money. Guides are written in plain English, checked against the live game, and refreshed when the game changes.

Pick Today’s Game

Short on time? The daily word puzzles take five minutes. Got the whole family round? Try a drawing game. Every tile below opens a guide with ages, round length and parent notes.
